This tool uses our server. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as the result comes back. It is never stored or shared. How files are handled
PDF to PDF/A converts a PDF into PDF/A-2b, the archival version of PDF that embeds fonts and color information so the document looks the same in decades. Some courts, tax portals, universities and government sites only accept PDF/A uploads. The conversion uses OCRmyPDF and Ghostscript on our server, and the file is deleted right after. Links and most fillable form fields are kept; fields that can’t meet the standard, such as hidden ones or signatures, become fixed content on the page.

Questions
Which PDF/A version do I get?
PDF/A-2b, which most portals accept. If a portal asks for PDF/A-1 or PDF/A-3 specifically, check its instructions.
Why is the PDF/A file bigger?
PDF/A must embed every font and color profile so the document stays readable on its own, which adds size.
Is my file uploaded?
Yes. This tool needs our server, so the file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as the result is sent back. It is never stored, shared or looked at. Most other tools on this site run entirely in your browser.
Is there a size limit?
Files can be up to 30 MB. Very large or complex files can take up to a couple of minutes.
