Resize Image
Change an image's width and height in pixels or by percentage, with the aspect ratio locked or free.
Resize Image changes the pixel dimensions of a photo or graphic. Use it to make a large camera photo small enough for email or a website, or to meet an exact size such as 1080 × 1080. You can type a width and height or scale by a percentage from 10% to 300%, and the Prevent Upscaling option stops you from enlarging an image by mistake.
How to use Resize Image
- 1
Open your image
Drop, choose or paste (Ctrl+V) a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or iPhone HEIC image.
- 2
Set the new size
In Pixels mode, type a width or height; with Lock Aspect Ratio on, the other side updates automatically. In Percentage mode, use the slider or the 25% to 200% buttons.
- 3
Choose the file format
The original format is kept by default. You can switch to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF and set the quality for JPG, WebP and AVIF.
- 4
Download the result
Click Download to save the resized image, or send it to Compress if you also want a smaller file size.
What it does
- Pixels or percentage
- Type exact dimensions up to 10,000 pixels, or scale the whole image from 10% to 300%.
- Aspect ratio lock
- Keep the original proportions so the image is not stretched, or unlock it to set width and height separately.
- Prevent upscaling
- Limits the size to the original dimensions, so a small image is never enlarged and made blurry by accident.
- Keeps your file type
- A JPG stays a JPG and a PNG stays a PNG, unless you choose a different format.
Questions
How do I resize an image without losing quality?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than the original cannot add detail, so it will look softer; turn on Prevent Upscaling to avoid this. Save as PNG, or use 90% quality or higher for JPG and WebP.
Does resizing reduce the file size?
Usually, yes. Halving the width and the height leaves about a quarter of the pixels, so the file becomes much smaller. For even smaller files, compress the result afterwards.
Can I resize to an exact size like 1080 × 1080?
Yes. Turn off Lock Aspect Ratio and type both numbers. If the original is not square, it will be stretched, so crop it to 1:1 first and then resize.
Can I resize many images at once?
This page resizes one image at a time. To resize up to 50 images in one step and download them as a ZIP, use the Bulk Image Resizer.
Can I resize photos from my iPhone?
Yes. HEIC photos are converted in your browser and the resized image is saved as JPG by default.
