PDF to Word

PDF to Word converts a PDF into a DOCX file you can edit in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice. It works best on PDFs that were created from a text document, such as exported reports, letters and forms; text, paragraphs and images come across as editable content. Complex layouts such as magazines, columns and forms can need some tidying afterwards. Scanned PDFs are only pictures of text, so run them through OCR PDF first. The conversion uses pdf2docx and LibreOffice on our server, and the file is deleted right after. For scanned pages that have been through OCR, the Word file holds their text; pictures on those pages are left out.

   Open the downloaded DOCX in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

Questions

Why does my document look different from the PDF?

PDFs store exact positions, while Word documents flow text. Simple documents convert well; columns, text boxes and complex forms may need adjusting after conversion.

Can it convert a scanned PDF?

A scanned PDF contains pictures of text, not text. Run it through OCR PDF first, then convert the searchable PDF to Word.

Is my file uploaded?

Yes. This tool needs our server, so the file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as the result is sent back. It is never stored, shared or looked at. Most other tools on this site run entirely in your browser.

Is there a size limit?

Files can be up to 30 MB. Very large or complex files can take up to a couple of minutes.
