Repair PDF
Fix a damaged PDF that won't open or shows errors. Free, with no sign-up.
This tool uses our server. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as the result comes back. It is never stored or shared. How files are handled
Repair PDF rebuilds the internal structure of a damaged PDF, the kind that won't open, shows an error, or opens with missing pages after an interrupted download or a faulty export. It rewrites the file so PDF readers can read it again, and recovers what can be recovered. Heavily corrupted files can't always be saved. Repair runs on our server with qpdf, and with MuPDF for files qpdf can't read, and the file is deleted right after.

Questions
Can every PDF be repaired?
No. If parts of the file are missing or overwritten, they can't be recovered. Try downloading or exporting the original again if you can.
Why does it say the file isn't a PDF?
The file doesn't start like a PDF at all, so it may be a different kind of file or damaged beyond repair.
Is my file uploaded?
Yes. This tool needs our server, so the file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as the result is sent back. It is never stored, shared or looked at. Most other tools on this site run entirely in your browser.
Is there a size limit?
Files can be up to 30 MB. Very large or complex files can take up to a couple of minutes.
