Image to Text
Copy the text out of a photo, screenshot or scan (OCR) in 10 languages. The image is read on your device.
Image to Text reads the words in a photo, screenshot or scanned page and gives them to you as text you can copy, edit or save as a TXT file. It uses Tesseract OCR running in your browser, with English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Turkish. A progress bar shows how far it has got, and if the image is too blurry for a reliable result, the page says so. The image is never uploaded.

Questions
Can it read handwriting?
Not reliably. It is made for printed text such as documents, screenshots, signs and labels. Neat handwriting sometimes works, but expect mistakes.
How do I get the best result?
Use a sharp, well-lit photo taken straight on, with the text large in the frame. Screenshots read almost perfectly.
Can it read a PDF?
Convert the page to an image first with PDF to JPG, then add that image here.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The text is read on your device; the image and the text never leave your browser.
