Settings
The product barcode used in shops worldwide (12 digits plus a check digit).
EAN-13 is the barcode on products in shops across the world, and EAN-8 is its short version for small packages. Type the first 12 digits (or 7 for EAN-8) and the check digit is worked out and added; if you type all 13, the tool confirms the last digit is right. The barcode is drawn to the standard, with the digits underneath, and read back with a scanner engine before you save it as PNG or SVG. Nothing is uploaded.

Questions
Do I need to register the number?
To sell a product in shops, yes: EAN and UPC numbers come from GS1, the organisation that runs the system. For your own stock, shelves or internal use, any number works.
What is the difference between EAN-13 and UPC-A?
They are the same system: a UPC-A number is an EAN-13 with a leading 0. Shops worldwide read both. Use UPC-A if your retailer asks for it, otherwise EAN-13.
How big should I print it?
Keep the bars crisp and give them space: print at 100% (don't stretch it), leave a white margin around the code, and use dark bars on a light background.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The code is made in your browser, and what you type stays on your device.
