Background

The barcode on the back of a book is the book's ISBN written as an EAN-13. Type your ISBN-13, or an older ISBN-10 that is converted for you, and the barcode appears with the check digit verified. Type the ISBN with its hyphens, as printed on the copyright page, and the ISBN line is printed above the bars the way publishers and bookshops expect. Download it as SVG for your cover designer, or PNG. Everything happens in your browser.

What it does

ISBN-10 converted
An older ISBN-10 is turned into the ISBN-13 that the barcode needs.
ISBN line above the bars
With hyphens, the human-readable ISBN is printed above the barcode.
Scan-tested
Each barcode is read back with a scanner engine, so you know it works before you print it.
PNG or SVG
PNG for documents and labels, SVG for print and design software at any size.

Questions

Where do I get an ISBN?

From your country's ISBN agency, or through your publisher or self-publishing platform. This tool draws the barcode for an ISBN you already have.

Can I add the price (the small barcode to the right)?

Not yet. The 5-digit price add-on used in the USA is not included.

How big should I print it?

Keep the bars crisp and give them space: print at 100% (don't stretch it), leave a white margin around the code, and use dark bars on a light background.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The code is made in your browser, and what you type stays on your device.
