Settings
The product barcode used in shops in the USA and Canada (11 digits plus a check digit).
UPC-A is the 12-digit barcode on products sold in the USA and Canada, and UPC-E is its compressed form for small items like cans and cosmetics. Type the first 11 digits of a UPC-A and the check digit is added; type all 12 and it is checked. UPC-E takes 6 digits, or 7 to 8 starting with 0 or 1. Each barcode is drawn to the standard, read back with a scanner engine and saved as PNG or SVG. Everything happens in your browser.

Questions
Do I need to register the number?
To sell a product in shops, yes: EAN and UPC numbers come from GS1, the organisation that runs the system. For your own stock, shelves or internal use, any number works.
When should I use UPC-E?
Only when the package is too small for UPC-A and your number can be compressed; UPC-E numbers start with 0 or 1.
How big should I print it?
Keep the bars crisp and give them space: print at 100% (don't stretch it), leave a white margin around the code, and use dark bars on a light background.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The code is made in your browser, and what you type stays on your device.
