Rotate Image
Turn an image by 90°, 180° or any angle from -180° to 180°, and save it in the format you need.
Rotate Image fixes photos that appear sideways or upside down, and straightens pictures that are slightly tilted. Use the 90° buttons for quick turns or the Custom Angle slider for small corrections. When the angle is not a multiple of 90°, the canvas grows to fit the whole rotated picture, so no corners are cut off.
How to use Rotate Image
- 1
Open the image
Drop, choose or paste a JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC image.
- 2
Rotate it
Click +90° to turn clockwise, -90° to turn counterclockwise, or 180° to turn it upside down. For a small correction, drag the Custom Angle slider.
- 3
Choose the format
The original format is kept by default. After a custom angle, PNG, WebP and AVIF keep the new corners transparent, while JPG fills them with white.
- 4
Download
Click Download to save the rotated image, or copy it to the clipboard.
What it does
- Quick 90° and 180° turns
- Fix sideways or upside-down photos with one click, and use Reset to go back to the start.
- Any angle
- Straighten a tilted horizon or document with the slider, in steps of one degree from -180° to 180°.
- Nothing is cut off
- For custom angles, the output canvas is enlarged so the entire rotated image fits inside it.
- Works with iPhone photos
- HEIC photos are converted in your browser, so you do not need to convert them first.
Questions
Why does my photo look sideways in some apps?
Phones often save the picture in one direction and add a rotation tag to the EXIF data, which some apps ignore. The file you download here has the pixels themselves turned and no rotation tag, so it looks the same everywhere.
Does rotating an image reduce its quality?
Turning by 90° or 180° moves pixels without changing them. Other angles require the pixels to be recalculated, which softens the image very slightly. Saving as JPG, WebP or AVIF also compresses it again, which PNG avoids.
What fills the corners after a custom rotation?
The canvas grows to fit the turned image. In PNG, WebP and AVIF the new corner areas are transparent; in JPG they are white.
Can I rotate an iPhone HEIC photo?
Yes. The photo is converted in your browser and the rotated version is saved as JPG unless you choose another format.
