Blur Background
Blur the background of a photo like a portrait-mode camera, keeping the person sharp. Runs on your device.
Blur Background gives any photo the soft, out-of-focus background of a portrait-mode camera. An AI model finds the person on your device, then the background is blurred while the subject stays sharp, with no blurry halo around the edges. A slider sets how strong the blur is, and you save the result as JPG or PNG. Nothing is uploaded: the photo and the model both stay in your browser.
How to use Blur Background
- 1
Add a photo
Drop, choose or paste a photo of a person. iPhone HEIC photos work too.
- 2
Wait for the subject
The AI model finds the person on your device. The first time, it downloads about 16 MB.
- 3
Set the blur
Move the slider until the background looks right.
- 4
Download
Save the photo as JPG, or PNG for the best quality.
What it does
- Portrait-mode look
- The background goes soft while the person stays crisp.
- No halo
- The blur fills in behind the subject from the surrounding background, so edges stay clean.
- Adjustable
- Choose anything from a light softening to a strong blur.
- Private
- The photo is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Questions
Does it work on photos without people?
It is made for photos of people. Pets and objects often work, but the model may miss parts of them; for those, check the edges before you save.
Why is the first photo slower?
The AI model downloads once (about 16 MB) and stays in your browser. After that, photos are processed in a few seconds.
Will my photo lose quality?
The person keeps full resolution. Very large photos (over about 16 megapixels) are reduced first so they work on phones; the page tells you when that happens.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Finding the subject and blurring both happen on your device.
