Universal Image Converter
Convert JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG or iPhone HEIC images to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
Universal Image Converter changes an image from one file format to another. It opens any image your browser can display, such as JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG, as well as iPhone HEIC photos, and saves it as JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. JPG and HEIC photos are set to WebP by default and other images to PNG, but you can choose any of the four outputs.
How to use Universal Image Converter
- 1
Open your image
Drop, choose or paste an image in any format your browser can open, or an iPhone HEIC photo.
- 2
Choose the output format
Under Save As, select JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
- 3
Adjust quality and background
For JPG, WebP and AVIF, set the quality. If the image has transparent areas and you chose JPG, pick the color that fills them.
- 4
Download the converted file
Click Download. AVIF can take a few seconds for large photos because it is encoded in your browser.
What it does
- Many input formats
- Opens JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, SVG and other formats your browser supports, plus HEIC and HEIF.
- Four modern outputs
- Save as JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. AVIF is encoded on your device with a WebAssembly encoder.
- Transparency handled correctly
- PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparent areas. For JPG, you choose the color that replaces them.
- Quality control
- Set the quality from 10% to 100% for lossy formats to balance file size and detail.
Questions
How do I convert HEIC to JPG?
Open the HEIC photo, select JPG under Save As and click Download. The conversion happens in your browser, so the photo is not sent anywhere.
Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos that must open everywhere, PNG for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges or transparency, WebP for smaller web images, and AVIF for the smallest files in modern browsers.
Can I convert to GIF, BMP or SVG?
No. These formats can be opened, but the output is always JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. An animated GIF becomes a single still image.
Will my transparent background be kept?
Yes, if you save as PNG, WebP or AVIF. JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the color you select.
Is the conversion lossless?
Saving as PNG is lossless. JPG, WebP and AVIF are lossy formats: a higher quality keeps more detail but creates a larger file.
