JPG to WebP
Convert JPG photos to WebP for smaller image files that make web pages load faster.
JPG to WebP converts JPEG photos to the WebP format, which all current major browsers can display. At similar visual quality, a WebP file is usually smaller than the same image as JPG, so pages that use it load faster. You set the quality with a slider from 10% to 100%, and the image keeps its original dimensions.
How to use JPG to WebP
- 1
Open a JPG
Drop a JPG or JPEG photo on the upload box, click to choose one, or paste it with Ctrl+V.
- 2

Start around 80%. Higher values keep more detail; lower values make smaller files.
- 3

Click Download WebP and compare the new file size with the original.

Questions
Is WebP better than JPG?
For websites, WebP usually gives smaller files at the same visual quality and can also store transparency. JPG is still accepted by more older programs, printers and upload forms.
Do all browsers support WebP?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari display WebP images. Some older apps and operating systems cannot open them.
Why did I get a PNG instead of a WebP?
Some browsers, including some versions of Safari, can display WebP but cannot create it. In that case the tool tells you and saves a PNG; use Chrome, Edge or Firefox to get a WebP file.
How can I see the file size before downloading?
This converter does not show a size estimate. Compress Image with WebP selected shows the expected size and the percentage saved while you adjust the quality.
