HEIC to WebP
Convert iPhone HEIC and HEIF photos to WebP, a small web format that opens in every browser. The conversion runs on your device.
HEIC (also called HEIF) is the photo format iPhones and many Android phones use by default, but most websites, content management systems and Windows apps can't show it. HEIC to WebP converts the photo to WebP, a modern format that every current browser supports and that keeps files small, often smaller than JPG at the same quality. That makes it a good choice for photos you will put on a website, a blog or an online shop. The conversion happens inside your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.
How to use HEIC to WebP
- 1
Add your HEIC photo
Drop, choose or paste a .heic or .heif file.
- 2
Choose the quality
85% suits most photos. Lower it for smaller files, raise it for more detail.
- 3
Download the WebP
Save the WebP file and upload it to your site or share it.
What it does
- Small files
- WebP files are usually smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, so pages load faster.
- Works in every browser
- Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all show WebP, as do WordPress, Shopify and most site builders.
- Private conversion
- The photo is converted on your device and never uploaded.
- No location data
- GPS location and camera details from the original are not copied into the WebP.
Questions
Is HEIF the same as HEIC?
For photos, yes. HEIF is the file format, and HEIC is the name and extension Apple uses for photos stored in it. Both .heic and .heif files work here.
WebP or JPG: which should I choose?
Choose WebP for websites and online shops, where small files load faster. Choose JPG when the photo goes to email, print shops, or older apps and upload forms that don't accept WebP.
Which quality should I use?
85% looks the same as the original for most photos. Use 90% or more for photos with fine detail, or 70% to 80% when file size matters most.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The HEIC decoder runs in your browser, so the photo stays on your device.
