WebP to PNG

Convert WebP images to lossless PNG files that keep transparency and every pixel.

WebP to PNG converts WebP images into PNG, a lossless format that almost every editor and viewer supports. Transparent areas stay transparent, and the decoded pixels are saved exactly, so the image does not lose quality when you edit and save it again. Use it when an app cannot open WebP or when you need a file for further editing.

How to use WebP to PNG

  1. 1

    Open a WebP file

Drop a WebP image on the upload box, click to choose one, or paste it with Ctrl+V.

  2. 2

    Check the preview

The output is always a lossless PNG at the same size, so there is no quality setting.

  3. 3

    Download the PNG

Click Download PNG to save the converted file.

The decoded pixels are stored exactly, with no new compression loss.
Opens everywhere
PNG is supported by practically all image editors, viewers and office programs.
No upload
The conversion runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device.

Questions

Does WebP to PNG keep the transparent background?

Yes. PNG fully supports transparency, so the background stays see-through.

Why is the PNG larger than the WebP?

Most WebP images use lossy compression, while PNG stores every pixel without loss. The same image therefore usually needs more bytes as PNG.

Does converting to PNG improve the image quality?

No. The PNG keeps the image exactly as it looks now, but it cannot restore detail that WebP compression has already removed.

Can I convert an animated WebP to PNG?

The tool saves one still image. PNG output here does not include animation frames.
